Luis is happy with how the team is playing right now, and being in 1st place. He does wonder how the roster would look for the long-term with 2 key starters being past their prime (Marion and Allen). His main concern though, is having to play center. While he feels he can fill in at the center spot in short stints, it is not his normal position. With David West being under contract at the PF spot for 2 more years, Luis doesn't see how he fits in, other than at the center spot.

Right. This could be a concern for Scola, but in the Olympics when he played for Argentina he did play the center position, and even filled in that spot when Yao was hurt. I think a big part of our success during this early part of the season is the fact that we have a center that can run. I'm trying as the GM to implement a European type style of basketball. Scola is a big guy at 6'11" and does stretch out the defense. I think it would be wise for him to strongly consider playing with SAS for the foreseeable future.
Regarding the age of Allen and Marion. I think Ray Allen even at an older age will still be a threat. Three point shooters in this league have a long lifespan, and Allen will always be a threat from the outside. He won't be that great at driving but I want him on the team to spread the D.
Marion will be replaced. I'm going to go after LBJ. We're going to have 47 million in cap space...

Luis understands both wanting to play small and that he has played center in the past. Like he mentioned earlier though, they were in smaller spurts, or because of an injury. He feels like playing center over an 82 game season plus potential playoff games, would be to hard on his body. He would also like to point out that he is 6'9 not 6'11. He is not completely against playing in San Antonio, he would just like to see what his options are in free-agency.

I understand that Scola will test the free agent market. I will want to resign him though if the price is right.
Hopefully Scola will want to play with SAS if we get far in the playoffs. As Scola's agent, let him know that I will try my best to get LBJ, resign Ray Allen, sign a center and trade Marion and West during the offseason.
